Social responsibility

CALLIPER’s social responsibility programme is founded on four pillars:

  • CALLIPER is passionate about upliftment of its staff and communities through education.
  • CALLIPER believes that the empowerment of communities within which it operates must be holistic and must include spiritual and economic empowerment in order for total empowerment to be effective and sustainable.
  • CALLIPER believes that civil engineering is a critical tool in boosting innovation and creativity and in stimulating the local economy.
  • CALLIPER participates in various conferences and workshops and therefore contributes to the body of knowledge in the industry and beyond.

The company has helped transform attitudes and change the way of doing business as part of its strategy for social responsibility. In one of its programmes CALLIPER adopted students from previously disadvantaged backgrounds who come from very low or no income households. One such initiative involved adopting pupils from the Itirele Zenzele Comprehensive School in Diepsloot by actively engaging them in activities that would support them and prepare them for a career in the construction and engineering industry.

CALLIPER is currently in a long-term partnership with Jesus Outreach Ministries  (JOM), a powerful Christian Non-Profit Organisation which conducts mass community outreach programmes, social upliftment programmes and Gospel crusades. CALLIPER provides financial sponsorships and resources, food parcels and support to enable these activities to take place.
