Calliper was appointed by Implats for the planning and implementation of the Freedom Park township internal road and stormwater management system near Rustenburg.

Project objective

The objective was to upgrade from gravel to paved road internal roads in Freedom Park township as part of Implats’ corporate social investment Programme. Upon completion, this project will benefit the Freedom Park community with:

• Better access
• Improved road safety
• Improved stormwater management system
• Creation of job opportunities during construction
• Improved mobility and social and economic interaction between local communities

Employment created

The contractor employed seven local general labourers, purchased material from local suppliers and appointed local subcontractors for the laying of paving blocks and kerbing. The contractor hired seven subcontractors.
