Upgrading and Rehabilitation of Road K69 (Solomon Mahlangu Drive) from Bronkhorstspruit Road to Road K54 in Mamelodi

Callier was appointed by the Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport as the employer’s agent to design and supervise the construction of the works on the upgrading and rehabilitation of Road K69 (Solomon Mahlangu Drive) from Bronkhorstspruit to Road K54 in Mamelodi.

The works entail the dualization of Road K69 from Lynwood to Mamelodi in Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality and the rehabilitation of the existing carriageway. They also included the construction of a bridge over the Pienaars River and three new road-over-rail bridges on the new carriageway.

The upgrade addresses congestion issues, particularly between Mamelodi and the N4. Further, the design integrates non-motorised traffic (NMT) concepts to improve on sustainable transport and reduce the risk to NMT using the road. The project is projected to be completed in 2022.
